Counterpart International is seeking a Civil Society Technical Associate for the USAID-funded ICSA-Tafa’aol program. This position will support the implementation of civil society strengthening activities under the guidance of the Technical Officer and Team Lead. The Civil Society Technical Associate will assist in identifying needs, supporting capacity-building initiatives for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and coordinating communication with partners and stakeholders.

The role requires strong organizational and time-management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a basic understanding of civil society dynamics and capacity-building concepts. The Civil Society Technical Associate will assist in preparing reports, documentation, and materials for internal and external meetings while ensuring compliance with USAID regulations and donor requirements.

This position provides an opportunity to contribute to advancing civil society in Iraq, with a particular focus on youth, women, and marginalized groups. Only local candidates will be considered for this position.

• Support the implementation of civil society by strengthening activities under the supervision of the Technical Officer and Team Lead.
• Assist in identifying needs and gathering information to support capacity-building efforts for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
• Proficient in writing weekly, monthly, and annual reports that adhere to USAID's standards and requirements.
• Support the delivery of technical assistance, training, and mentoring sessions for local CSOs in coordination with program staff.
• Assist in preparing reports, meeting notes, presentations, and documentation related to program activities.
• Collaborate with the communication team to develop and write compelling success stories, ensuring they are presented in a professional and engaging manner that aligns with the project's goals and highlights key achievements, impact, and lessons learned.
• Coordinate communication and follow-up with civil society partners, local stakeholders, and relevant program actors as directed.
• Help maintain program files, records, and documents to ensure proper organization and accessibility.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with USAID regulations, donor requirements, and organizational guidelines for civil society components.
• Support the preparation of materials for internal and external meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Officer, Team Lead, or program management.

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
• Two to three years of experience supporting development programs, civil society activities, or related administrative roles.
• Experience working in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq, is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of civil society dynamics and capacity-building concepts.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to support coordination and data entry tasks effectively.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in multicultural environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data management tools.
• Strong writing and verbal skills in Arabic; working knowledge of English is preferred.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
