Counterpart International is seeking a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Mozambique Stability Through Economic Progress, Unity, and Peacebuilding (STEP UP) Activity which seeks to increase empowerment of local communities to drive their own social and economic development.. The purpose of the activity is to allow communities to participate more actively in their own development through directly providing opportunities and tools. The COP will lead the in-country management of the program, ensuring the implementation of programmatic activities and overseeing the work of long-term staff and short-term experts and ensuring compliance with US government rules and regulations. The COP will also take the lead in coordinating with USAID representatives, the Government of Mozambique, and other implementing partners. This will be a full-time position based in Pemba, Mozambique. This position is contingent upon award.
The COP will be responsible for overall project leadership, management, technical direction and vision, oversight, quality, and compliance, and maintaining exceptional relationships with USAID and government and civil society stakeholders. The COP will be responsible for ensuring the timely submission and quality of all project deliverables. This position requires previous senior-level program leadership experience on USAID-funded or other donor supported projects. The COP will work planning, performance management, data collection, quality assurance and quality control methods, budgetary control, and responsiveness of technical assistance to ensure compliance with USAID regulations. The COP will also take the lead in coordinating with USAID representatives, the Government of Mozambique, and other implementing partners. The position will collaborate directly with Counterpart’s HQ office.
