  • Overview

    Counterpart International is currently seeking a Legal and Policy Reform Specialist to support the anticipated Niger Government Accountability and Policy Reform opportunity, which seeks to create space and effective mechanisms to demand government actions and hold the government accountable for policy reform. This is a full-time position.

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance on program design and implementation of legal activities related to accountability, public policy reform, and policy dialogue. This position requires experience in a similar technical area (e.g. transparency and accountability, law and justice, and public policy).

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Relevant degree in a related field;

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in international development;
    • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing development projects focused on legal and policy reform, preferably in Niger and/or West Africa;
    • Prior experience and in-depth knowledge in working on programs on public policy reform, government accountability and civil society support programs;
    • Demonstrated experience in working effectively in advanced, complex, and politically sensitive activities;
    • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with partner and government representatives, donors, and other stakeholders;
    • Experience with adaptive management approaches;
    • Demonstrated leadership capacity and experience supervising teams of diverse staff.

    Languages:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required;
    • Professional proficiency in French strongly preferred.
