Counterpart International is implementing the Participatory, Responsive Governance Project (PRG-PA) in Niger on behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project is funded for a period of 5 years, from February 2016 to February 2021. The goal of the PRG-PA project is to improve the collective response (government and citizen) to priority public needs. The main objective of the project is to increase the capacity of stakeholders - including civil society organizations (CSOs), traditional and religious leaders, government and the media and the private sector - to identify local dynamics that block or encourage reform (research), to apply this knowledge and to mobilize around collective action. Counterpart is preparing for the strong likelihood of additional funding to implement an integrated Women Peace and Security component into the PRG-PA project.
Contingent on funding, Counterpart International is currently seeking a Women Peace and Security (WPS) Advisor for its PRG-PA project. Reporting to the PRG-PA Deputy Chief of Party, the Women Peace and Security Advisor will oversee the implementation of the project’s WPS component that aims to make communities more resilient to violent extremism due to increased women and girl leadership and participation in community-level decision making, citizen action, and inclusive service delivery. This is a full-time position based in Niamey, Niger with frequent travel to the regions of Diffa and Tillaberi. Local and regional candidates are encouraged to apply.
